Dr. Gauhar Afshan is an endowed Professor of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine and currently serves as Head of Pain Medicine at the Aga Khan University (AKU), Pakistan. She pioneered the establishment of the irst pain management service at AKU and initiated Pakistan’s irst fellowship program in Pain Medicine. Dr. Afshan holds several prominent national and international leadership positions, including Chair of the Pain Management Committee of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) and Convener (Dean) of the Faculty of Pain Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. Her outstanding contributions to the ield have been recognized through numerous national and international grants and awards, and she has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed publications.
