Prof Liaqat Ali Railway General Hospital, Rawalpindi Keynote Speaker APICON 15 Major General (Retd) Dr. Liaquat Ali (Hilal-e-Imtiaz Military) is a distinguished medical professional, educator, and leader in the fields of anesthesiology, pain medicine, and critical care. Holding advanced qualifications including an FCPS in Anaesthesia, an MSc in Pain Medicine, and a Diploma in Medical Education, he has devoted his career to expanding clinical excellence and post-graduate medical training. Notably, as the former Advisor in Anesthesia to the Armed Forces, he revolutionized specialty training by doubling trainee inductions, eliminating decade-long staff deficiencies, and establishing the first accredited pain medicine center at CMH Rawalpindi. His leadership further extends to academia, having served as Head of Department at IIMC/RIU and Foundation University Medical College (FUMC/FFH), where he founded Pakistanโ€™s second interventional pain center and spearheaded the establishment of the Allied Health College at FUI to address critical operating theater nursing shortages. A pioneer in medical simulation and emergency care training, Dr. Liaquat Ali serves as a senior American Heart Association (AHA) Training Centre Faculty member and has conducted over 300 international BLS, ACLS, and PALS workshops over the course of 15 years. As a prolific supervisor and examiner for the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), he has trained a vast network of specialists who now practice globally, including the first generation of civilian pain specialists and supervisors in Pakistan. Alongside his extensive administrative and pedagogical achievements, he maintains a rich research portfolio featuring over 50 publications, two international book chapters on chronic pain, a national pain guideline, and numerous international presentations, alongside a renowned clinical reputation for procedural excellence in complex interventions and cancer pain management.
