Prof S. M. Shahab Naqvi Convener APICON-15 Prof  Shahab Naqvi is a distinguished medical professional, academic leader, and former Pakistan Army officer with extensive expertise in Anesthesiology, Cardiac Care, and Healthcare Management. He earned his MBBS from Chandka Medical College, Larkana in 1980, followed by a Gold Medal in the Diploma in Anesthesiology from the Pakistan Army, as well as MCPS and FCPS fellowships from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). His clinical foundation was further strengthened through advanced training in the United Kingdom at Guy’s Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, leading to decades of clinical practice in Cardiac Anesthesia and Cardiac Intensive Care. Complementing his medical credentials, he holds a Diploma in Health System Management and completed the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University. Throughout his career, Prof Naqvi has held premier organizational and military leadership roles, serving as Commandant and Executive Director of AFIC-NIHD, Advisor in Anesthesiology to the Pakistan Army, Principal and Dean of Rawal College of Medicine, and Dean of the Faculty of Anesthesiology at CPSP. He has also led national professional bodies as President of both the Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiologists and the Pakistan Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists. Currently, he serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Professor & Head of Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Bahria International Hospital, Rawalpindi. A dedicated educator, he acts as Regional Director for the Committee of European Education in Anaesthesiology (CEEA) and Director for the BASIC Course accredited by ESICM, having supervised fellowship trainees in general and Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology for over two decades. Since 2006, Prof. Naqvi has rendered distinguished leadership in orchestrating the annual APICON conferences at the scenic locale of Bhurban. Under his stewardship, these premier gatherings have consistently delivered exemplary scientific programs, enriched by esteemed international faculty, state-of-the-art workshops, and rigorous academic discourse.
